Pałac Fryderyka von Oppersdorffa
Polska Cerekiew, Poland, Poland
Pałac Fryderyka von Oppersdorffa is a late Renaissance palace ruin in Polska Cerekiew village, southwestern Poland's Opole Voivodeship, originally a 14th-century Gothic castle rebuilt in 1617 by nobleman Fryderyk III von Oppersdorff into a square-plan, two-story brick structure with an internal courtyard, two octagonal corner towers on the front facade, and remnants of a surrounding moat.
Remodeled in 1894 by Eberhard von Matuschka with a mansard roof, neorenesans portal, new staircase, and garden portico, it passed through noble families like Seherr-Thoss before being burned in 1945, leaving walls up to the second floor, the towers, and Renaissance portal amid a ruined park.
Since 2012, the local gmina has undertaken reconstruction using municipal and EU funds to preserve this historic seat on an ancient trade route site.
