Pałac Potockich w Radzyniu Podlaskim
Radzyń Podlaski, Poland, Poland
Pałac Potockich w Radzyniu Podlaskim is a magnificent Rococo palace in eastern Poland's Lubelskie Voivodeship, evolving from a 15th-century fortress owned by the Kazanowski family into a Renaissance residence under the Mniszchów in the 16th century.
Stanisław Antoni Szczuka commissioned its Baroque reconstruction from 1685-1709 by royal architect Augustyn Locci, transforming it into a representative-defensive seat, before Eustachy Potocki enlisted Jakub Fontana in 1750-1759 for the ultimate Rococo redesign on a horseshoe plan with lavish interiors, gardens, and artificial lakes inspired by Versailles.
Damaged by fire in World War II—with only the grand staircase and facade sculptures surviving—it was postwar rebuilt as municipal offices and a gallery, remaining one of Poland's finest 18th-century aristocratic residences.
