Panam City, also known as Panam Nagar, is an abandoned 19th‑century township in Sonargaon, Narayanganj District, Bangladesh, about 25–30 kilometers southeast of Dhaka along the Dhaka–Chittagong Highway.

It stands on the layered remains of the older Sonargaon capital, once a major political and trading center in medieval Bengal, and grew as a residential quarter for wealthy Hindu merchants and talukdars who built elegant brick houses blending European and Mughal‑inspired styles. Today the site is a ghost village of roughly 52 decaying mansions lining a single street, with many buildings in partial ruin yet still showing intricate brickwork, courtyards, and arched windows, set beside the nearby Sonargaon Folk and Craft Museum.

Panam City is often called a “lost” or ruined city and is recognized as one of the most evocative historical sites in Bangladesh, reflecting the region’s complex past as a multicultural trading hub and highlighting threats such as neglect, flooding, and unauthorized development.
