Punta del Viento is a hidden-gem nature reserve and secluded beach located on the southeastern coast of Puerto Rico in the town of Patillas, about 90 minutes from San Juan.

This tranquil protected area offers a pristine escape for nature lovers, featuring diverse rocky coastlines, crystal-clear waters, beautiful sandy beaches around every curve, lush mangroves, varied trees, and a large sea grass area where sea turtles and manatees frequently visit. The reserve is ideal for walking along the shoreline (visitors typically walk about 4 miles round-trip), snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, photography, birdwatching, camping, and enjoying breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea and coast.

Access is via an unpaved one-lane dirt road with potholes, mud, and rocks, making a 4×4 vehicle recommended, though visitors can also park and walk in. The beach is free to enter, open daily during daylight hours, has no facilities (no restrooms or showers), and requires visitors to bring ample water, sunscreen, and a hat while practicing eco-friendly principles and taking all trash out.

Swimming is safest in protected lagoon areas due to unknown currents, and vehicles are prohibited on the beach since it serves as a marine turtle nesting area. Nearby amenities including restrooms, showers, food, and drinks are available at Balneario de Patillas just up the road, and adventure tours can be arranged through local operators.
