Rocky Bay Beach, also known as the “Back Beach” at Shek O, is a small, gazetted beach located just behind the main Shek O Beach on the southeastern tip of Hong Kong Island.
It sits in a sheltered bay overlooked by the Shek O Country Park hills and is hemmed in on one side by the Shek O Country Club golf course, giving it a slightly tucked‑away, craggy feel with prominent rock formations along the shoreline. The beach is small, less crowded, and dog‑friendly, making it a quieter alternative to the busy main beach, though it is currently not officially open for swimming because it lacks lifeguard services and regular patrolling. Visitors still come here for casual sunbathing, strolling along the rocks, taking photos, and enjoying the view across the sea toward Tung Lung Chau.
