The Samaná Peninsula is a lush, roughly 50‑kilometer‑long strip of land in the northeastern part of the Dominican Republic, forming the backbone of Samaná Province and jutting into the North Atlantic between Samaná Bay and the open ocean.

It is known for its dramatic mix of tropical rainforest, rugged mountains, numerous waterfalls, mangrove‑lined rivers, and stretches of pristine white‑sand beaches backed by coconut palms. The peninsula is most famous for hosting Samaná Bay, a major destination for humpback‑whale watching each year from January to March, when thousands of whales migrate here to give birth and breed.

Key towns such as Samaná, Las Terrenas, and Las Galeras serve as bases for visitors, combining a relaxed, small‑town vibe with ecotourism, diving, snorkeling, and sailing around nearby islands like Saona and Cayo Levantado.
