Santos
Brazil, Brazil
Santos is a coastal city in São Paulo State, Brazil, built on São Vicente Island and functioning as the main seaport for the huge inland metropolis of São Paulo. It is one of the busiest ports in Latin America and among the world’s top coffee‑export hubs, with its harbour handling a large share of Brazil’s coffee, sugar, orange juice, soy, and industrial goods. The city is known for its long urban beachfront, lined with sand, a wide promenade, gardens, and Art Deco‑style buildings, offering a relaxed seaside atmosphere not far from the city’s heavy industrial waterfront. Santos is also famous for its football club, Santos FC, historically linked to Pelé, and for its humid subtropical climate, seaside resorts nearby, and easy access to São Paulo by road and rail along the steep Serra do Mar range.
