Schmeeckle Reserve is a 280‑acre natural area on the campus of the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, set aside to protect and restore native wetlands, forests, prairies, and a 24‑acre lake.
It serves as both an outdoor laboratory for students and faculty and a public recreation spot, with about five miles of trails and boardwalks that pass through diverse habitats where visitors regularly see deer, songbirds, waterfowl, and other wildlife.
The reserve also includes a visitor center that functions as a trailhead for the 27‑mile Green Circle Trail, offering exhibits, a Wisconsin Conservation Hall of Fame, restrooms, parking, and information for hikers, bikers, cross‑country skiers, and nature‑oriented visitors, and it is open to the public year‑round during daylight hours.
