Seoul City Wall (Hanyangdoseong) is a historic fortress wall that was built in 1396 during the Joseon Dynasty to protect Hanyang, the former capital of Korea and present-day Seoul.

Stretching approximately 18.6 kilometers along the ridges of Bugaksan, Naksan, Namsan, and Inwangsan, the wall originally enclosed the city and connected four main gates and four smaller gates. Today, much of the wall has been preserved and restored, offering visitors scenic walking trails with panoramic views of the city.

As one of Seoul’s most important historical landmarks, Hanyangdoseong provides a unique opportunity to experience more than 600 years of Korean history while exploring the contrast between ancient fortifications and the modern urban skyline.
