Shaanxi Xi'an Botanical Garden
Xi'an, China, China
The Shaanxi Xi'an Botanical Garden (also called Xi'an Botanical Garden) is a large modern botanical garden in Xi'an, Shaanxi, China that serves as both a public park and a provincial scientific research institution focused on plant science, germplasm resource collection, and biodiversity conservation. The currently open new site in Qujiang New District, built in 2014 and opened to visitors in October 2016, covers 43 hectares (106 acres) and houses over 4,000 plant species across 11 specialized gardens including the Silk Road Garden, Qinling Garden (featuring biodiversity from the nearby Qinling Mountains), Children's Garden, Water Garden, Rose Garden, and Herb Garden. The garden highlights Qinling's rare and endangered plants and functions as a scientific research base for ex situ plant conservation. Visitors can enjoy seasonal flower shows throughout the year—tulips in spring, lotus in summer, chrysanthemums in autumn, and plum flowers in winter—making March to May the best time to visit when flowers are in full bloom. Admission is affordable at 10 Chinese yuan on usual days, with opening hours from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and children under 6 or under 1.2 meters enter free while teenagers get half price.
