The Cary Castle Mews
Victoria, Canada, Canada
The Cary Castle Mews is a cluster of restored 19th‑century wooden service buildings located on the southeast side of Government House in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
Originally built in the 1870s as stables, a carriage house, gaol, root cellar, wash house, and poultry barn, these outbuildings supported the governor’s estate and were later rehabilitated to serve the public.
Today the Mews includes a small tea room, an interpretive centre, the Cary Castle Mews Costume Museum, and a heraldry exhibit, making it a quiet, historic stop where visitors can learn about the Lieutenant Governor’s estate and enjoy a cup of tea in a heritage setting.
