The Family of Man Exhibition

Clervaux Castle, Luxembourg

---

The Family of Man Exhibition, housed in Clervaux Castle in Luxembourg, is one of the world's most famous photography exhibitions. Created by Edward Steichen and first presented at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York in 1955, it was designed as a powerful message of peace, human dignity, and the shared experiences that connect people across cultures. The exhibition features 503 photographs by 273 photographers from 68 countries, capturing themes such as birth, family, work, love, and life’s challenges. After touring more than 150 museums around the world, the final complete version found a permanent home in Clervaux Castle in 1994 and was added to the UNESCO Memory of the World Register in 2003. Today, it remains a landmark of photographic history and one of Luxembourg’s most important cultural attractions.
