The Great Wall of China
Beijing, China
The Great Wall of China is a very long and old wall that was built to protect China from enemies. It is one of the most famous places in the world and a symbol of China's history. The wall is over 21,000 kilometers long and goes through mountains, deserts, and grasslands. Some of the best parts of the wall are near Beijing, the capital city of China.
The wall was first built more than two thousand years ago. Many different rulers added to it over time, but the strongest and most famous parts were built during the Ming Dynasty, about 600 years ago. They used bricks and stones to make it strong and long-lasting.
If you visit Beijing, you can go to different parts of the wall. Mutianyu is a quiet and beautiful place with trees and hills. Badaling is the most popular and easy to get to, so it can be crowded. Jinshanling is good for people who like hiking and taking pictures. Jiankou is very steep and wild, so it is best for people who are used to climbing. Simatai is special because you can visit it at night and see the lights.
