The Royal Castle in Warsaw is a historic residence at the heart of Poland's Old Town, originally built in the 14th century as a tower by Masovian dukes and expanded into a Gothic stronghold by the 15th century.

Transformed in the early 17th century under Sigismund III Vasa into a five-winged Mannerist palace with Italian influences by architects like Matteo Castello, it served as the seat of Polish kings, parliament, and the Commonwealth until the late 18th century, featuring key elements like the 60-meter Sigismund Tower, Senate Hall, and Marble Room.

Destroyed by Nazis in 1944, it was meticulously rebuilt in the 1970s-1980s using original plans and public donations, now functioning as a museum showcasing royal apartments, Canaletto paintings, and tapestries amid its UNESCO-listed Baroque-Neoclassical facades.
