The ruins of the Castle in Brok
Brok, Poland, Poland
The ruins of the Castle in Brok, Poland, consist of a preserved tower fragment from a Renaissance-Baroque bishops' palace built in 1617-1624 by Bishop Henryk Firlej of Płock on the Bug River escarpment, serving as a summer residence for Płock diocese leaders until 1822.
Damaged by Swedish wars in the early 18th century, restored in 1716 by Bishop Ludwik Załuski, and further harmed by a late 18th-century fire, it was reconstructed in 1880 before suffering demolitions during World Wars I and II for bricks.
Secured in 1955-1957 and 1966, only three walls of the square four-storey belvedere tower with profiled cornices and window surrounds now survive from the original rectangular structure with chapel.
