Tonquédec is a commune in the Côtes-d'Armor department of Brittany, France, known for its impressive medieval castle, Château de Tonquédec.

The castle, located about 8.5 kilometers south of Lannion, dates largely from the 15th century but was built on the site of an earlier 12th-century fortress. It stands strategically on a rocky cliff overlooking the Léguer valley, featuring eleven towers and a closed curtain wall, which highlight its role as a feudal stronghold in Brittany.

The Coëtmen-Penthièvre family originally built the castle, which has a history of conflict, including partial dismantling by order of Jean IV, Duke of Brittany, in 1395 during disputes involving the local nobility.

The castle was rebuilt in the early 15th century and later served as an artillery base in the 16th century, even becoming a refuge for Huguenots during religious wars. It was finally dismantled around 1622 on orders of Cardinal Richelieu. Today, Château de Tonquédec is a listed historic monument and remains privately owned, representing a magnificent example of medieval Breton architecture and history.
