Tour Barberousse is the iconic medieval tower that overlooks the coastal village of Gruissan in the Aude department of southern France.

It is the main remaining part of a castle originally built at the end of the 10th century to watch over the approaches to Narbonne and protect the area from seaborne attacks. Perched on a rocky hill above the village, the castle was expanded during the Middle Ages before being partially dismantled in the 17th century on the orders of Cardinal Richelieu.

Today, only the tower and castle ruins remain, standing as a symbol of Gruissan's long history. The tower overlooks Gruissan's distinctive circular old town, as well as the nearby lagoons, salt marshes, coastline, and Mediterranean Sea. Visitors climb to the site mainly for its historical significance and spectacular panoramic views. Today, Tour Barberousse is one of Gruissan's most famous landmarks and a protected historic monument, valued for both its medieval heritage and its dramatic setting above the village.
