Tournon-sur-Rhône is a historic town located in Southern France along the Rhône River, known for its charming old town and rich cultural heritage. It dates back to at least 817 AD and was historically ruled by the Counts of Tournon, who established a prominent castle on a granite rock overlooking the river.

The medieval castle, largely built from the 10th to the 16th centuries, has been well preserved and now houses a museum showcasing local history, art, and regional artifacts. The town features narrow streets, Renaissance architecture, and landmarks such as the Collegiate Church of Saint Julien from the 14th century.

Notable is the Marc Seguin suspension bridge built in 1825, which was the first bridge with iron cables over the Rhône, connecting Tournon to the town of Tain-l'Hermitage. Tournon-sur-Rhône is surrounded by vineyards and known as a gateway to the northern Rhône wine region, making it a popular destination for history and wine lovers alike.
