Trindade, Rio de Janeiro
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Trindade is a small coastal village in the municipality of Paraty on Brazil’s Costa Verde, about 30 kilometers south of Paraty’s historic center, known for its laid-back, bohemian feel and dramatic setting where Atlantic rainforest-covered hills meet a series of sheltered bays.
Originally a Caiçara fishing community, it has grown into a popular beach destination, with simple guesthouses, campsites, bars, and restaurants clustered near the shore while still retaining a casual, rustic atmosphere. The main draw is its string of beaches, including spots with stronger waves that appeal to surfers and calmer stretches of sand better for families, all backed by lush Mata Atlântica vegetation and connected by short coastal and forest trails.
Visitors often hike or take small boats to natural rock pools such as the Cachadaço natural pool, where clear, protected water and abundant fish make snorkeling especially appealing, and to playful natural features like Pedra que Engole, a smooth rock chute and waterfall.
Trindade lies at the edge of Serra da Bocaina National Park and an environmental protection area, so it offers an easy base for low-key hiking, swimming, and nature watching, but it can become quite busy on summer weekends and holidays when day-trippers arrive from Paraty and Rio de Janeiro.
