The Viña del Mar National Botanical Garden in Chile, established in 1917 on the historic El Salitre estate, is a vast and scenic garden spanning approximately 400 hectares. It was originally designed by French architect Georges Dubois and became a rich sanctuary for over 1,300 native and exotic plant species including ferns, myrtles, cypresses, and Chilean palms.

The garden serves as an important conservation site, cultural space, and popular recreational area, featuring walking trails, picnic spots, and educational exhibits about Chile’s diverse ecosystems. Tragically, a major wildfire in 2024 damaged much of the garden, but it remains a cherished natural and historical treasure that continues efforts toward restoration and environmental education.
