The Vindhya Range is a prominent hill system located in central and northern India, stretching roughly 1,050 kilometers from Gujarat eastward across Madhya Pradesh to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, parallel to the Narmada River and forming the southern edge of the Malwa Plateau with average elevations of 300-600 meters and a highest peak at Sad-bhawna Shikhar around 752 meters.

Known for its discontinuous ridges of ancient sandstone and flat-topped plateaus, it divides northern India from the peninsular Deccan, giving rise to rivers like the Chambal, Betwa, and Son while supporting diverse forests, wildlife, and historical sites from prehistoric caves to medieval forts. 

No such feature named the Vindhya Range exists in Malawi, which instead features ranges like the Viphya Mountains along Lake Malawi's western shore or the Shire Highlands in the south, both unrelated to India's geology or nomenclature.
