Zamek krzyżacki w Brodnicy
Brodnica, Poland, Poland
Zamek krzyżacki w Brodnicy is a Gothic Teutonic Order castle ruin in Brodnica, north-central Poland's Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, built between 1305-1339 on a square plan with a high tower, convent wing, and fortified outer bailey as a commandry seat.
Captured by Polish forces after Grunwald in 1410, retaken by the Knights in 1411, and definitively Polish after the 1466 Peace of Toruń, it served as a starosty residence through noble families like the Działyńskis, who rebuilt it post-1550 fire.
Damaged in the Swedish Deluge and Bar Confederation occupation, Prussians dismantled most structures after 1785 for materials, preserving mainly the tower now housing a museum amid city walls.
