Jordan
Jordan, officially the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, is located in the Middle East, bordered by Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and the Palestinian territories. The country’s capital and largest city is Amman, and the population is estimated at 11.5 million. Most Jordanians are Sunni Muslim, with a small minority of Arab Christians. The official language is Arabic.
Jordan is a constitutional monarchy, but the king holds wide executive and legislative powers. Since gaining independence from Britain in 1946, Jordan has played a unique political role in the region and has been a major refuge for Palestinian, Syrian, and Iraqi refugees. The country's economy is constrained by scarce natural resources but benefits from stability, a strategic location, and a skilled workforce.
