Alinja Castle, also known as Alinjagala, is a medieval fortress perched atop a mountain peak in the Julfa region of Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan.

It dates back to at least the 12th century and was built for strong defense, with thick stone walls and multiple layers of fortifications stretching up the slopes. The castle was historically significant as a residence of the Atabey dynasty and served as a major treasury and military base.

It famously resisted the siege of the Turco-Mongol ruler Tamerlane for 14 years around the early 15th century before eventually falling. The fortress includes numerous buildings such as barracks, storage areas, stables, kitchens, and palatial quarters. It has an ingenious system of rock-carved gutters and cisterns to collect rainwater, ensuring water supply during sieges.

Today, after restoration, Alinja Castle is a popular tourist destination known for its panoramic views, dramatic mountain location, and rich historical legacy linked to both Azerbaijani and regional medieval history.
