Alpine Garden Patscherkofel is Austria's highest botanical garden, located at nearly 2,000 meters elevation right next to the Patscherkofelbahn cable car's mountain station on Mount Patscherkofel near Innsbruck in the Tyrol region.

Owned and maintained by the University of Innsbruck since 1930, the garden showcases naturally occurring alpine plant communities like dwarf shrub heath, high forest, and tall herbaceous vegetation at the timberline edge, with minimal planting except for selected limestone rocks to display alkaline bedrock species.

Visitors enjoy free admission on a signposted circular hiking trail with educational labels showing each plant's scientific name, flowering time, growth height, toxicity, uses, and distribution in the Alps and Austria, while a modern research station enables scientists to conduct year-round studies on-site. 

The garden offers enchanting sensory experiences with stunning panoramic views of Innsbruck city and snow-covered mountains, making it a protected habitat worthy of reflection given the sensitive balance threatened by high mountain development.
