Burgruine Alt-Ems is the ruin of a once very large hill castle above Hohenems in Vorarlberg, Austria. Built in the 12th century, it grew into one of the biggest and strongest castle complexes in Central Europe before being damaged in the Appenzell War and later abandoned. Today, the restored ruins are a historic landmark known for their dramatic location, long history, and wide views over the Rhine Valley.
