Altdischingen Castle
Stuttgart, Germany, Germany
Altdischingen Castle in Stuttgart, Germany, also called the "Old Castle," is a former hilltop Burgstall ruin located around 400 meters above sea level in the Solitude state forest range of Weilimdorf, a district incorporated into Stuttgart in 1933.
Built at the end of the 11th century and destroyed in the mid-12th century, it once spanned approximately 25 by 40 meters, bounded by a ravine to the south, a 2.5 to 3-meter deep trench to the north and east, and an additional outer wall with its own 1-meter deep trench.
No visible walls or buildings remain above ground today, making it a subtle archaeological site popular with hikers in the scenic Swabian landscape near other historic landmarks.
