Altwied Castle in Neuwied, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, is a medieval spur castle ruin on a rocky ridge surrounded by the Wied River, built before 1129 by Count Metfried von Wied as the family seat of the Counts of Wied, with its first phase completed around 1179 and expanded through the 13th-14th centuries.

Never conquered or destroyed despite wars, it featured multiple fortification rings, a chapel dedicated to St. George first noted in 1259, and a fortified village below with gates like Porz, Judentor, and Mühlentor, serving as an administrative hub until abandoned after 1690 when the counts relocated to Neuwied.

Quarried for nearby Monrepos Castle and Ehrenbreitstein Fortress in the 18th-19th centuries, partial restorations occurred around 1880, leaving picturesque remnants popular with hikers today.
