Ampfurth Castle Courtyard
Oschersleben, Germany, Germany
Ampfurth Castle Courtyard in Oschersleben, Germany, forms the heart of a Renaissance palace built between 1608 and 1615 on the site of a mid-12th-century round burg first documented that era and owned by the Archbishops of Magdeburg from 1257.
Managed by the von der Asseburg family from 1381—who acquired it fully in 1483 and whose tombs remain in the castle church—it passed through sales due to debts in 1712 before reaching King Frederick William I in 1715, with its prominent octagonal tower serving as Station 16 of the Prussian optical telegraph line from Berlin to Koblenz between 1835 and 1849.
Today privately owned since 1997, the courtyard-centered complex blends historic wings now housing residences, event spaces, and offices amid its preserved architectural legacy.
