Appleford/Parsons-Banks Arboretum
Pennsylvania, United States
Appleford/Parsons-Banks Arboretum is a 24-acre non-profit arboretum and historic country estate located in Villanova, Pennsylvania. The property dates back to 1692 when it was part of a land grant by William Penn.
The site features an early Pennsylvania farmhouse that has evolved over the centuries, combined with lush formal gardens, woodlands, ponds, and streams designed under the guidance of landscape architect Thomas Sears in the 1920s.
It was owned by Lewis and Anabel Parsons, who collected antique furnishings now displayed in the house. Since 1973, the estate has been owned by Lower Merion Township and dedicated as an arboretum and bird sanctuary. It serves as a serene public green space and is also a popular venue for weddings and events. The grounds welcome visitors, offering beautifully maintained gardens and natural areas with seasonal blooms and scenic views.
