Ardashir Babakan Palace
Iran, Iran
Ardashir Babakan Palace is an important Sasanian-era monument in Firuzabad, Fars Province, Iran, built in the 3rd century CE by Ardashir I, the founder of the Sasanian Empire.
It is known for its early use of domes, large halls, and strong stone-and-plaster construction, and many historians think it may have also served a religious function related to Zoroastrian fire worship. Today it is recognized as part of the UNESCO-listed Sassanid Archaeological Landscape of Fars Region and is valued as one of the best examples of pre-Islamic Iranian architecture.
