Årsta Slott Gastronomi
Österhaninge, Sweden, Sweden
Årsta Slott Gastronomi is a high-end restaurant housed within the historic 17th-century Årsta Castle in Österhaninge, Haninge Municipality near Stockholm, Sweden, where the estate dates back to medieval times as a Teutonic Order base around 1308.
Constructed between 1660-1667 by admiral Claes Hansson Bielkenstierna and his wife Barbro Åkesdotter (Natt och Dag), the Baroque-style castle passed through noble families before being acquired in 1805 by Carl Fredrik Bremer, father of author Fredrika Bremer who spent her childhood summers there and died on the property in 1865.
Owned by Österhaninge Municipality since 1966, it now hosts this acclaimed gastronomic venue offering seasonal fine dining with generous portions of fusion cuisine, open daily in summer amid preserved interiors and gardens linked to Sweden's literary heritage.
