Asselfingen is a small rural municipality of about 1,000-1,040 residents in Germany's Alb-Donau-Kreis district, Baden-Württemberg, nestled on the Swabian Alb's edge at around 504 meters elevation with an area of 12.85 km².

Known as the "home of the Lion Man," it lies between the Lonetal nature reserve to the north—famous for prehistoric caves and artifacts—and the Bavarian town of Günzburg to the south, blending farmland, forests, and good infrastructure in a peaceful setting. 

First settled in prehistoric times and documented later under local lordships, it features landmarks like St. Pantaleon church amid typical Alb landscapes tying into the region's castle ruins and hiking heritage near Ehingen and Balingen.
