Baqerabad Castle in Bafq, Iran, is a historic fortress dating back to the Qajar era in the 19th century. Built in three stages by Abdorrahim Khan Bafqi, the son of Mohammad Taqi Khan Bafqi, the castle served as a protective shelter for villagers against bandits and also functioned as a grain storage facility.
The structure includes 45 rooms, two watchtowers, and fortified walls with numerous positions for defense such as areas for shooting and throwing stones. The northern tower has three stone-throwing positions and ten shooting slits, while the southern octagonal tower, about 11 meters tall with two floors, offers sixteen shooter positions and four stone-throwing points.
Officially recognized as a national heritage site of Iran in 2005, Baqerabad Castle stands as a significant cultural and historical monument representing regional security and community resilience in its era.
