Biedesheim
Germany, Germany
Biedesheim is a small municipality in the Donnersbergkreis district of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, located on the upper Brübelbach stream between Worms to the east and Kaiserslautern to the west.
First mentioned as Bosinesheim in 782 within the Lorsch Codex, this Franconian settlement evolved through names like Büdesheim and Rüben-Büdesheim, once featuring a water castle destroyed in 1470 whose remnants survive as walls.
With around 626 residents, it includes outlying areas like Neumühle and Siedlung Schönblick, anchored by a 10th-century Romanesque Protestant church renewed in 1498 with 13th- and 15th-century murals, alongside a Catholic church and classicist gravestones at the old cemetery.
