Blankenhain Castle
Crimmitschau, Germany, Germany
Blankenhain Castle is a Baroque water castle near Crimmitschau in Saxony, Germany, with origins as a 12th-century fortress first documented in 1423.
Half of it burned in 1661 and was rebuilt by 1699 or 1700, gaining its current mansard roof and domed towers in 1765. After locals saved it from post-WWII demolition ordered by Soviet authorities, it became an open-air museum of agriculture and rural life from 1890-1990, covering 11 hectares with 60 buildings.
