Boltenhagen is a state-approved seaside health resort on Germany’s Baltic Sea coast in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, located about 30 kilometers east of Lübeck and considered part of the “German Riviera”.
As Germany’s third oldest spa town, dating back to 1803, it is famous for its 5-kilometer-long wide sandy beach with gently shallow waters, 24 beach sections, and a scenic boardwalk lined with characteristic seaside resort architecture, elegant villas, cafes, and restaurants. The town’s mild, pollen- and allergen-free coastal climate earned it official health resort status in 1998, making it especially popular with families and ideal for relaxation and wellness.
Key attractions include the iconic 290-meter-long pier (Seebrücke) where visitors enjoy fresh fish from the daily fishing harbor, the southernmost marina on the Baltic (Weiße Wiek) with over 350 berths, the Kurpark spa park with open-air concerts, and the Baltic Sea Thermal Baths offering seawater pools and therapeutic treatments.
