Borgestad Church
Skien, Norway, Norway
Borgestad Church in Skien, Norway, is a white limestone parish church built in a long church style between 1903 and 1906, consecrated on May 24, 1907, as a gift from Prime Minister Gunnar Knudsen and his wife, with architecture by Henrik Nissen inspired by English country churches, featuring an asymmetric bell tower and seating for about 382 people. It replaced an earlier church site known since at least 1398 on land from Borgestad and Ekeli farms, with interiors enhanced by Emanuel Vigeland's 24 stained-glass windows depicting Bible scenes from 1918-1919 and Ulrik Hendriksen's paintings in 1921, plus electrical upgrades during its 1957 golden jubilee.
