The Botanical Garden of the University of Potsdam is a botanical garden and arboretum in Potsdam, Germany, maintained by the University of Potsdam since its establishment in 1950 on the site of the former terraced garden of the Sanssouci Court Gardens.
The garden covers a total area of 8.5 hectares, with 5 hectares open to the public, and is located just southwest of the Orangery Palace at Maulbeerallee 2. It cultivates around 10,000 different plant species from tropical and subtropical regions across its greenhouses and open-air areas, including palms, ferns, pineapples, arum plants, orchids, and tropical water plants.
The garden features diverse collections such as a large arboretum with rare and endangered trees, a medicinal plant garden, a vegetable garden, a water garden, and a Japanese garden. Beyond displaying plant diversity, it serves an educational mission by conveying the complexity and importance of the plant world's biological diversity and supports botany student training and research in plant conservation.
