The Botanical Garden of TU Darmstadt (Botanischer Garten der Technischen Universität Darmstadt) is a 5-hectare university scientific botanical garden located at Schnittspahnstraße 5-9 in Darmstadt, Germany, founded in 1814 in the moat of the Darmstadt Palace and moved to its current location in 1874, making it over 200 years old.
The garden belongs to the Department of Biology of TU Darmstadt and is the centerpiece of the Botanical Garden campus, which also houses the Department of Biology and the Institute of Applied Earth Sciences. It cultivates approximately 8,000 to 9,000 plant species from all climate and vegetation zones on about 4.5 hectares of outdoor land and around 1,100 to 1,400 square meters under glass, representing several times the number of species naturally occurring in Germany.
The garden features diverse collections including an arboretum (tree collection), pinetum (conifer collection), systematic gardens, alpine garden (Alpinum), heath garden, Taxodium pond, a forest area, and specialized greenhouses for tropical and other plants.
