Bramburg
Hann. Münden, Germany, Germany
Bramburg is the ruined site of a medieval hilltop castle in the forested region north of Hann.
Münden in Lower Saxony, Germany, located roughly between the villages of Glashütte and Hemeln. First mentioned in 1063, it originally served as a fortification for the nearby Bursfelde Monastery and later functioned as a protective stronghold for Corvey’s territories, but also gained a reputation as a robber‑baron refuge, which led to its partial destruction in 1458.
By the end of the 17th century the structure was already considered a ruin, and today only fragmentary walls and earthworks remain visible on the wooded ridge, accessible by forest and hiking trails from the state road 561.
The Bramburg is now a quiet heritage site integrated into the Hann. Münden adventure region, with free access and signposted paths that allow visitors to explore the overgrown remains and enjoy views into the surrounding Upper Weser landscape.
