The town includes the evocative remains of the medieval village Brancaleone Vetus, featuring ruins like an ancient church, grottoes with frescoes, and archaeological sites such as silos and granaries carved into sandstone.

Brancaleone is also notable for being one of the most important nesting areas for endangered Caretta caretta sea turtles, with local conservation efforts successfully protecting many nests and hatchlings since 2016.
