Castello Bevilacqua is a striking medieval castle in the town of Bevilacqua, in the Province of Verona, built in 1336 by Guglielmo Bevilacqua as a fortress to defend the territory from rival powers. Originally protected by a moat and multiple rings of walls, it played an important military role during the Middle Ages. Over the centuries, the castle was damaged by wars and gradually transformed from a defensive stronghold into an elegant noble residence. In the 16th century, the renowned architect Michele Sanmicheli redesigned much of the interior, and later restorations gave the castle its distinctive neo-Gothic appearance. Today, Castello Bevilacqua is a beautifully restored historic landmark known for its richly decorated halls, artwork, and gardens. It is open to visitors and serves as a venue for guided tours, cultural events, weddings, and hospitality, offering an immersive glimpse into more than 700 years of Venetian and Veronese history.
