Brekkeparken in Skien, Norway, centers on Søndre Brekke manor, purchased in 1810 by Niels Aall, a key figure in Norway's 1814 Constitution, who developed the estate with a grand main building, wings, and an English landscape-style park laid out in 1815-16 by gardener H.C. Pries, complete with a gazebo, pavilion, and duck pond. Sold to a joint-stock company in 1909 and gifted to the newly founded Telemark Museum, it evolved into the city's public park and open-air museum, featuring additions like a 1915 swan pond with artificial stream and bridge, a 1924 outdoor theater designed by Heinrich Karsten, and a 1927 garden pavilion from Kjellestad farm donated by Norges Bank. Today, as part of Telemark Museum, it showcases relocated Telemark farm buildings—including medieval open-hearth cottages—from across the region, renowned for its floral displays with 27,000 tulips blooming annually, offering free public access year-round alongside seasonal museum exhibits and events.
