Brohl-Lützing
Germany, Germany
Brohl-Lützing is a municipality in Rhineland-Palatinate's Ahrweiler district, Germany, formed in 1970 by merging Brohl and Niederlützing, situated on the Rhine between Namedy and Bad Breisig at the entrance to the geologically fascinating Brohltal valley.
First mentioned in 1252 when lands were granted to the Templerhof in Niederbreisig, the area features Roman quarrying of tuff, basalt, and other volcanic stones, plus mineral springs, with a local knightly family residing on Burg Brohl since around 1089.
Key landmarks include the L-shaped medieval Schloss Brohleck above the Rhine, privately owned with restricted access, the 19th-century-renamed Augustaburg, and St. Lambertus Church in Lützing from 1271, amid a landscape rich in volcanic heritage.
