Brömserburg
Rüdesheim am Rhein, Germany, Germany
Brömserburg in Rüdesheim am Rhein, Germany, is one of the oldest stone castles in the UNESCO-listed Upper Middle Rhine Valley, dating back to around 1000 AD as a fortified water castle built by the Archbishops of Mainz to protect Rhine crossings and serve as a toll station.
Named after the knightly Brömser family who resided there from 1548 until 1668, it features massive 2-meter-thick walls, a bergfried tower, and remnants from 12th-century renovations into a residence, hosting famous visitors like Goethe and the Brothers Grimm.
Currently under restoration, the site offers garden events with wine tastings near the famous Drosselgasse, blending over a millennium of history with scenic river views.
