Brookgreen Gardens in South Carolina is a vast 9,100-acre site developed on the land of four former rice plantations and opened in 1932 by Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington.

It is the first public sculpture garden in the United States and features the largest collection of American figurative sculpture outdoors. The gardens combine art, history, and nature, hosting themed gardens, the Lowcountry Zoo, and trails through restored ecosystems that preserve the natural habitat of the South Carolina Lowcountry. Visitors can explore historic rice fields with educational exhibits reflecting the plantation's past, including the lives of enslaved people.
