Bugle Cayes
Belize, Belize
Bugle Cayes is a small group of islands off the coast of southern Belize, set just south of the Placencia Peninsula in the Caribbean Sea, roughly 3–5 km offshore and about 130 km south of Belize City.
The largest of these, Bugle Caye, is known mainly for the historic Bugle Caye Light, a lighthouse built in the 19th century that still operates as a navigation aid and marks the approach to the Placencia area. The cayes sit near the Belize Barrier Reef and are popular with day‑trip snorkelling and reef tours, offering clear waters, coral formations, and marine life, while also being eyed for both tourism‑oriented development and proposals for nearby aquaculture projects.
