Built by Danish authorities starting in 1862 but completed by Prussia in 1865 after the Second Schleswig War, it replaced earlier structures from 1807 and 1844 destroyed by lightning, originally using Argand lamps and later Fresnel lenses.
Today, this 22-meter automated tower guides ships with a white guiding light and red sector for the Stollergrund shoal, offering public access since 1996 for panoramic fjord views and coastal walks.
