Burg Arras
Alf, Germany, Germany
Burg Arras is a medieval hilltop castle overlooking Alf in the Cochem-Zell district of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, near the Moselle River, first documented in 1120 with origins possibly around 936 on a Roman fort site.
Owned jointly by Palatine counts and the Bishop of Trier, it featured a dungeon, chapel, walls, and gate before French forces destroyed it in 1689 during the Nine Years' War. Rebuilt in the early 20th century, it now operates as a unique castle hotel, restaurant, and museum showcasing regional history, knights' hall artifacts, and a torture chamber exhibit with panoramic valley views.
